iCERT Releases Recommendations for NG 9-1-1 Standards Conformance Testing
Monday, October 28, 2019 | Comments

The Industry Council for Emergency Response Technologies (iCERT) released recommendations for next-generation 9-1-1 (NG 9-1-1) conformance testing.

“The migration to NG 9-1-1 will bring tremendous improvements in 9-1-1 service delivery functionality and will provide a more resilient and reliable system for the public and emergency responders,” the group said. “Important to a successful migration is the development of uniform standards and the adoption of those standards by vendors offering products and service to 9-1-1 authorities. While still evolving, these standards are the foundation upon which all stakeholders depend. They ensure that different components interoperate within the NG 9-1-1 system being implemented, and customers rely on adherence to standards to ensure interoperability with adjacent jurisdictions that have migrated to NG 9-1-1.”

The recommendations cover program governance and NG 9-1-1 conformance testing program characteristics. The full document is here.
