TIA Requests Input on P25 to LTE Interworking Standards
Tuesday, December 10, 2019 | Comments

The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) TR-8.19 Engineering Committee on Wireline System Interfaces issued a call for interest for document TIA-102.BACA-B-3 initially titled Inter-RF Subsystem Interface – Messages and Procedures for Voice, Mobility Management and RFSS Capability Polling Services – Addendum 3 – Interworking with an IWF.

This addendum adds a normative annex to TIA-102.BACA-B to enable interworking for the services defined in phase one of the Alliance for Telecommunications Industry Solutions (ATIS) Wireless Technologies and Systems Committee (WTSC)/TIA TR-8 Joint LMR to Long Term Evolution (JLMRLTE) architectural study of interworking between P25 and Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) mission-critical services.

The document will describe how a 3GPP interworking function (IWF) may act as a home or serving P25 RF Subsystem (RFSS) for the phase one interworking services of group registration/deregistration, group call (non-emergency and emergency), announcement group call and broadcast group call. TR-8.19 is developing guidelines in these areas.

The stakeholders may include but are not limited to manufacturers, users and providers of P25, private LMR and 3GPP mission-critical communications services and equipment. TIA is seeking participation on these projects from the user and general interest communities.

For more information about how to participate, contact Victoria Mitchell at standards@tiaonline.org. More information on the interworking standards is available here.
