FCC Extends Deadline to File Wireless 9-1-1 Location Accuracy Comments
Wednesday, February 05, 2020 | Comments

The FCC extended the deadline to comment on its wireless 9-1-1 location accuracy requirements fifth further notice of proposed rulemaking (FNPRM) until Feb. 21 for initial comments and until March 20 for reply comments.

The rules were adopted in November. The original deadlines were Feb. 18 and March 16, respectively.

The Industry Council for Emergency Response Technologies (iCERT), National Association of State 9-1-1 Administrators (NASNA), National Emergency Number Association (NENA), Texas 9-1-1 Alliance and Texas Commission on State Emergency Communications requested the extension.

The petitioners said that “[t]he opportunity to develop the record is made even more challenging by three major events in the 9-1-1 policymaking space” during the original comment and reply period. The FCC granted the request. The new order is here.
