Australia’s Orion DMR Network Adds Coverage in Darwin

The city of Darwin joined Australia’s Orion digital radio network with a nationwide footprint that offers critical uncongested communications and data analysis and display for management for a range industries including aviation, construction, facilities management, security, utilities, transport and logistics.

“As Australia’s largest commercial radio network operator, Orion is proud to be the first to include Darwin in a national network footprint,” said Orion’s Darwin spokesman James Holmes.

The network uses Motorola Solutions Capacity Max technology, complaint with the Digital Mobile Radio (DMR) Tier 3 for interoperability. The network supports a range of devices including handheld radios, vehicular radios and telematics devices, desktop consoles with TRBONET and smartphones with the WAVE push-to-talk (PTT) over cellular (PoC) application.

 The Orion network supports 10 million calls per month across Australia. Darwin is the capital of Australia’s Northern Territory.
