Rescue 42 said its PodRunner division entered into an exclusive supplier agreement with AT&T to provide the SatRunner Satellite communications platform configured with Wi-Fi internet and band 14 cellular for the nationwide First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet) network.

AT&T calls this product FirstNet Compact Rapid Deployable (CRD) and will resell it as part of its First Responder Mobility Zone (FRMZ) program to all FirstNet primary users — medical, police and fire. FirstNet CRD is also available to the FirstNet extended primary critical infrastructure providers, such as utility companies, government and transportation. The product will support emergency management and remote communications in general, remote hospital deployments, triage centers and medical surge capacities in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Rescue 42’s direct-sale product, the SatRunner cell-on-wheels (COW) is capable of providing Wi-Fi internet and Verizon cellular coverage supported by its onboard high-throughput (HTS) Ka band satellite and cellular backhaul systems. This system creates a large area of Verizon cellular and Wi-Fi internet coverage anytime, anywhere. It is easily deployed by a single person and can be stored indoors.

“Everyone needs internet and cell service, but it is absolutely critical for emergency response managers and medical facilities,” said Tim O’Connell, president and CEO of Rescue 42. “Often, these critical services are not available during a disaster or in remote locations. Our goal is to provide a quick response, easily deployed, and cost-effective platform to supply these services.”
