AT&T said it is deploying portable assets to support public safety during the COVID-19 pandemic. The carrier deployed a cell tower on wheels to support the Naval Ship Mercy in Los Angeles.

The carrier said it has 14 portable cell sites operating and has deployed more than 28 during the response to COVID-19 to bolster coverage for First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet) customers.

Verizon said it worked with the U.S. Navy to deliver connectivity for the Navy hospital ship USNS Comfort, a Navy medical treatment facility that includes 1,000 hospital beds, 12 operating rooms, radiology capabilities and a pharmacy. The ship is deployed to New York City and will serve as a referral hospital for non-COVID-19 patients and alleviate stress on hospitals.
