Airbus will provide secure TETRA communications technology for three new customers in China. Recently, the cities of Taiyuan, Luoyang and Xi’An signed contracts with Airbus.

The city of Taiyuan, capital of the Shanxi province in northern China, will receive a TETRA system composed of servers, base stations for high-quality network coverage, portable terminals and mobile radios for the Taiyuan Metro Line 2. This metro line is the city’s first.

Airbus will also provide Luoyang’s Metro Line 1 with a TETRA server and base stations as well as handhelds and mobile radios. It is also the first metro line in China to be equipped with Airbus’s rugged TH9 handheld radio.

Xi’an, the capital of the Shaanxi Province and city of more than 8 million inhabitants, will receive technology including a TETRA server, base stations and radios for the Metro Line 5.

“We are proud to gain the trust of three new customers in China,” said Marko Tiesmaki, head of the Asia-Pacific region for Secure Land Communications at Airbus. “The new contracts confirm our leading position in the transportation market. Our customers know that they can rely on secure and reliable technology and our support at any time.”
