Chief Luther Reynolds was named executive director of the FBI National Executive Institute Associates (FBI NEIA). The FBI NEIA is a private, non-profit organization of chief executives of the largest law enforcement agencies throughout the world.

Reynolds, a member of the NEIA, was appointed chief of police of the Charleston (South Carolina) Police Department in 2018. He is responsible for the overall operation of the largest municipal law enforcement agency in the state of South Carolina.

Reynolds will continue the efforts by Dick Ayres who has worked and served the NEIA since its inception in 1976, most recently as executive director. Ayres retired from his role and is helping through the transition.

“We are grateful for the dedicated service Dick provided to our organization to date and look forward to his continued support in an advisory role and working on special projects,” said NEIA President Chris Burbank. “We are recognized as one of the most respected law enforcement associations. As we continue to grow and tackle the new challenges in policing today, we appointed Chief Reynolds knowing he could help our association and members continue with the progressive law enforcement leadership necessary to ensure our communities are safe.”
