Comba’s Public-Safety DAS Product Line Gains UL-2524 Certification

Comba announced that its public-safety 700/800MHz fiber distributed antenna system (DAS) product line has received UL-2524 standard certification for in-building two-way emergency responder radio communications systems (ERRCS).

UL-2524 covers a variety of components and products used in in-building two-way radio communications systems, including repeaters, transmitters, signal boosters, bidirectional amplifiers (BDAs), power supplies and charging system components. The focus of the standard is on certifying the products as an overall in-building system and not just as individual components.

Comba’s DAS units meet the UL-2524 strict standards to address the safety, reliability and operational requirements of ERRCS equipment prior to installation. Additionally, Comba’s fiber DAS master and remote units were tested together with Comba’s previously UL-2524 standard certified battery backup unit to be shown as tested as a system.

SGS Labs North America, an Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)-approved nationally recognized testing lab (NRTL) administered the tests according to the UL-2524 standard and certified the fiber DAS units as meeting the standards. SGS is the only OSHA-approved NRTL to certify manufacturers’ products to the UL-2524 standard.

“We are elated to have each of Comba’s public-safety product lines UL-2524 standard certified,” said Don Henry, Comba Telecom’s vice president of sales and public-safety program manager. “No matter the size of the building, Comba has the ideal public-safety BDA or fiber DAS solution to meet ERRCS UL-2524 standards certification requirements and satisfy AHJ’s around the country.”
