German Agency Deploys TETRA Two-Way Pagers

The Federal Agency for Technical Relief (THW) plans to equip its first responders with 6,000 TETRA two-way pagers from Motorola Solutions. The THW is responsible for technical-logistic operations of the German federal government.

THW provides assistance after storms and floods, ensures emergency repairs and supplies, and offers communications for large-scale operations. During the coronavirus crisis, THW teams established mobile stations for medical tests and supported the Federal Police in border controls, lighting and with the setup of temporary accommodations. The teams also ensured the distribution of protective equipment such as face masks and hand sanitizer on behalf of the Federal State of Bavaria to the local disaster control organizations.

Motorola Solutions TETRA two-way pagers provide the Bavarian THW with optimized availability through the TETRA digital radio network.

“We are very pleased with this framework agreement,” said Dr. Fritz-Helge Voß, THW state representative for Bavaria. “It will enable us to remain at the same technical level as our partners in Bavaria`s integrated emergency system. Just like them, we will also be able to raise an alarm at any time in the future.”
