The airport attracts around 18 million visitors a year and will become the first airport in China to combine Airbus TETRA and a mobile broadband network for its daily operations. The new technology will include a TETRA server, base stations, terminals and multiple licenses for smartphone users. The network is scheduled to be implemented by end-2020.
Jinan Airport staff members from fuel personnel to firefighters to general operations users will be able to connect to the secure TETRA communications system using ordinary smartphones. They can use secure TETRA communications for airport-related services, such as luggage handling, shuttle bus logistics, equipment maintenance or refueling.
