Federal Engineering to Perform Dispatch Assessment for California Agencies
Monday, August 03, 2020 | Comments

Mono County, Inyo County, the city of Bishop and town of Mammoth Lakes in California awarded Federal Engineering a contract to provide expert consulting services for a regional dispatch center feasibility study and implementation plan.

“FE has completed multiple projects in California including a public-safety mobile radio project for our County,” said Nate Greenberg, Mono County director of information technology. “They understand the distinctive conditions of our operational landscape, political influence and geographical terrain. We are counting on FE to draw upon their California experiences as well as projects across the nation to help the agencies develop a regional dispatch solution to meet our objectives and guide stakeholders forward.”

Collectively, the agencies are served by three separate public-safety answering points (PSAPs) operated by Mono County Sheriff, Inyo County Sheriff and the Bishop Police Department. Federal Engineering will conduct a study to help the agencies better understand the opportunities and constraints associated with implementing a regional dispatch solution, as well as key steps that need to be taken to move forward. Federal Engineering will assess how service delivery can be improved to first responders in the field and the public as well as how to maximize cost efficiencies and resource sharing in the rural, sparsely populated regions.

“Federal Engineering is uniquely positioned to assist the agencies in achieving improved levels of service, collaborative technological and communications solutions, and ultimately, cost efficiencies,” said Rajit Jhaver, Federal Engineering director. “Over the past 37 years, FE has become the firm numerous jurisdictions rely upon for public-safety consulting. We have built an excellent reputation in both PSAP and radio system consulting, and have helped hundreds of towns, cities, counties and state agencies on PSAP consolidations, operational improvements, emergency response technology upgrades, and other related initiatives.”
