The CBRS Alliance and Safer Buildings Coalition (SBC) agreed to join forces as liaison partners. Effective immediately, the partnership is key to SBC’s efforts to continue providing access to resources that work to enhance in-building communications for both the public and public-safety responders.

“We are excited to have the CBRS Alliance at the SBC Table of Influence,” said SBC Executive Director Alan Perdue. “We must constantly look for new advancements to ensure that building owners have simple, cost-effective solutions that are built for the future. Working with the CBRS Alliance provides additional opportunities for the SBC to explore new advancements within the communications ecosystem.”

The CBRS Alliance believes that 4G and 5G solutions in the Citizens Broadband Radio Service Band (CBRS) band, using shared spectrum, can enable both in-building and outdoor coverage and capacity expansion at massive scale. In order to maximize the CBRS band’s full potential, the CBRS Alliance aims to enable a robust ecosystem towards making OnGo solutions available. The mission of the CBRS Alliance is to evangelize 4G and 5G OnGo technology, use cases and business opportunities while simultaneously driving technology developments necessary to fulfill the mission, including multi-operator capabilities. The alliance also established an effective product certification program for OnGo equipment in the U.S. 3.5 GHz band, ensuring multivendor interoperability.

"The CBRS Alliance is pleased to be entering into a liaison partnership with Safer Buildings Coalition as it will benefit both organizations and our members tremendously,” said CBRS Alliance Executive Director Alan Ewing. “The CBRS Alliance will now have even greater insight into the in-building requirements, challenges and opportunities that are making OnGo a viable option for supporting the Safer Buildings Coalition’s mission. We look forward to a long, mutually valuable relationship and the future progress we will make together in this industry."

The SBC also announced the results of its board of directors election. Dennis Burns of Advanced RF Technologies (ADRF) was elected vice president while Ron Schachter of RF Solutions became SBC’s new treasurer. Commdex's Prince Niyyar will fill Burns' previous spot as board secretary. Per the rules of the board, Burns will step into the role of president after serving one year as vice president.

Current Board President Patrick Lau of Comba, will take the role of immediate past president, and vice president Eric Toenjes of Graybar is the new SBC president.

“Well, as they say in show business ‘that's a wrap’ as it relates to our 2020 election for our board of directors,” said Perdue. “Congratulations to Dennis Burns, Ron Schachter and Prince Niyyar. I believe a strong family has well-worn seats at the dinner table, and we want to welcome these leaders to our SBC Table of Influence. We are excited about the new ideas and energy everyone will bring to our table to make the SBC even stronger.” Would you like to comment on this story? Find our comments system below.
