L3Harris Mobile Radios Receive FirstNet Ready Certification

L3Harris Technologies’ XL mobile radios, or in-vehicle routers, are now certified and approved for use on FirstNet and are AT&T certified.

The L3Harris XL-185M and the XL-200M now join the XL family of handheld portable radios, including the XL-150P, XL-185P and the XL-200P, that were certified FirstNet Ready in October 2019.

FirstNet is built with AT&T in a public-private partnership with the First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet Authority), an independent agency within the federal government. FirstNet is designed with and for public safety and those critical to their emergency response.

The FirstNet Ready XL-185M and the XL-200M support access to the physically separate and dedicated FirstNet network core, FirstNet First Priority, which includes always-on priority and pre-emption for first responders, and the FirstNet band 14 spectrum.

“With our entire XL portfolio receiving FirstNet Ready certification, our customers and prospective customers can rely on L3Harris to deliver products that enhance the ability to stay connected, whether by land mobile radio, Wi-Fi or LTE with FirstNet connectivity,” said Nino DiCosmo, president, public safety and professional communications, L3Harris. “We’re pleased to continue this collaboration with AT&T and look forward to bringing even more advanced capabilities to our users.”

Before being certified and approved for use on FirstNet, devices are subject to hundreds of tests that cover a number of aspects, from security to network impacts. This helps to ensure devices meet the critical needs of first responders.

“FirstNet devices and modules go through an extensive review, so first responders can be confident that L3Harris’ XL-185M and the XL-200M meet our highest standards for reliability, security and performance,” said Brenda Kittila, vice president, FirstNet Program at AT&T. “The more tools public safety has access to on their network, the more we can help them achieve their mission.”
