Sonim Technologies announced the departure of Maurice Hochschild and Jeffrey Johnson from its board of directors.

The board of directors has determined that no other nominee for election at its annual meeting will be named in place of Hochschild and Johnson. The remaining five nominees will continue to stand for election or re-election at the meeting. The board of directors has reduced the size of the board from seven to five.

Directors Sue Swenson and Kenny Young will assume the governance and nominating committee responsibilities with Young as chair.

Hochschild will be focusing on a new business startup in the United Kingdom, where he is based. The combination of his new duties plus ongoing global travel restrictions will allow him to focus all of his attention on his new venture.

Johnson is departing the board, but the company expects that he will help it focus on business development by leveraging his extensive network of public-safety contacts. Swenson and Johnson are both former First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet) board members.

“We thank Maurice for his foundational efforts in establishing Sonim as a leader in rugged mobility and wish him every success in his new endeavors,” said John Kneuer, chairman of the board. “We look forward to working with Chief Johnson and taking advantage of his unparalleled experience and expertise to leverage Sonim’s capabilities to the benefit of our nation’s first responders.”
