LMCC to Create Working Group to Address LMR Interference from Digital TV Stations
Monday, October 26, 2020 | Comments

The Land Mobile Communications Council (LMCC) agreed to form a working group to collaborate with the FCC on identifying potential solutions to co-channel and adjacent channel interference to land mobile systems from digital TV (DTV) stations in multiple urban areas.

The LMCC agreed to form the working group following a meeting between members of the LMCC and the FCC. During that meeting the LMCC members met with representatives from multiple FCC bureaus to open a dialog to address and resolve multiple incidences of co-channel and adjacent channel interference that has occurred in urban areas, including Dallas, Houston, New York, Chicago and San Francisco.

“Some instances of interference may be resolved by simply enforcing existing rules, other cases will be more challenging given the lack of spectrum alternatives for both land mobile and DTV licensees,” said LMCC President Klaus Bender. “But this is a good start.”
