APCO, NENA Adopt MoU on Joint Standards Development Work
Wednesday, November 04, 2020 | Comments

Officials from the Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO) International and the National Emergency Number Association (NENA) adopted a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to guide joint standards development work undertaken by the two organizations when renewing a joint standard.

One example of such work is the Standard for Telecommunicator Emergency Response taskforce (TERT) Deployment, which is up for its next five-year review in 2020. Separately, the two organizations conduct their standards work using different procedures. The MoU bridges across these small differences in process.

“Developing standards is an essential activity for both NENA and APCO, and our memberships benefit when the two organizations can work together,” said NENA President Gary Bell. “NENA is pleased to adopt this MoU so that mutually beneficial joint standards work can move forward.”
