Sepura appointed Heather Rolls as its new head of hardware development.

Rolls will head up a team of engineers designing Sepura’s radios, using experience gained in developing mission-critical products for the security and defense market.

“I am really excited to be joining Sepura at such an exciting time in its history, as it looks to bring to market intelligent solutions to support public-safety users,” said Rolls. “My experience is very much in matching user requirements to industry capability to produce true innovation. Sepura is a great home for me given the company’s history in breaking new ground within critical communications. We have seen in recent years that many organizations including police forces in the U.K., Sweden, Italy, Germany and around the world have chosen Sepura to support their frontline staff. Our challenge is to continue developing new products that keep us as the device of choice for these leading organizations.”

In previous roles at Ultra Electronics and Teledyne e2v, Rolls delivered successful products deployed in some of the world’s most demanding markets. These included electrical systems which prevented the buildup of ice on the wings of both commercial and military planes.

“The design and manufacturing excellence for which Sepura is known are crucial to our customers and to the company’s future success,” said Duncan Crouch, operations director at Sepura. “Heather has proven experience in developing mission-critical products for customers in the defense and security markets, and we are delighted to add her to our team in Cambridge. She has a key role to play in ensuring that future Sepura TETRA and LTE products will continue to keep us at the forefront of critical communications.”
