NICET is currently working on writing the questions for the certification tests of the program. The institute is working on writing questions for the Design and Tech 1 certifications in the program and plans to have that work completed by May. NICET will then begin work on the Tech II and Tech III exams once that is finished, and those are expected to be available by early in the third quarter of 2021.
Meanwhile, the SBC is working on writing and developing a study and reference guide for the program. That effort is led by subject matter expert (SME), course developer and author Phil Ziegler and backed by SBC Executive Director Chief Alan Perdue and SBC Managing Director John Foley.
The two organizations have also partnered with the National Association of State Fire Marshals (NASFM). The NAFSM is providing its expertise to ensure that the project work remains on time, on budget and of a good quality. NAFSM will also work to drive awareness of and adoption of the new certification program by state fire marshals around the U.S.
