The first specification is the Information Exchange Package Documentation (IEPD) Specification Version 5.0beta1, which details the normative and non-normative guidance for building a NIEM IEPD. The document deprecates the model package description (MPD) construct as of NIEM 5.0.

The second specification, the NIEM Conformance Specification Version5.0beta1, details general conformance guidance, principles and rules for NIEM version 5.0.
