FirstNet Authority Receives Clean Financial Audit for 2021

The First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet Authority) received a clean audit of its fiscal year 2020 financial statements.

The audit identified zero material weaknesses, zero significant deficiencies and zero management level control deficiencies in the statements. This is the eighth consecutive year that the authority has earned a clean audit, FirstNet Authority Chief Financial and Administrative Officer Kim Farington said in a blog.

During the year, the FirstNet Authority used its cash to support its day-to-day operations, finance enhancements to the FirstNet network and fund payments for services received under the national public-safety broadband network contract with AT&T and other contractual services agreements.

At the end of fiscal year 2020, the authority had a cash balance of $3.4 billion and total assets of $8.1 billion and total liabilities of $1.5 billion as of September 30.

The audit was performed by Harper, Rains, Knight and Company.

“In our opinion, the financial statements referred to above present fairly, in all material respects, the financial position of the First Responder Network Authority as of September 30, 2020 and 2019, and the results of its operations and its cash flows for the fiscal years then ended in accordance with accounting principles generally accepted in the United States of America,” the audit said.
