PSTA Announces That It Will Cease Operations
Friday, April 16, 2021 | Comments

The Public Safety Technology Alliance (PSTA) will cease operation. PSTA Board Member Jeff Johnson confirmed that the organization plans to shut down soon.

“The board felt that we fulfilled our mission in the immediate years after FirstNet’s launch,” Johnson said. “We had great dialogue and committee work around technical topics and open standards that were oriented toward a NPSBN/Firstnet’s emergence.”

Johnson said that the work of the First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet Authority), the FirstNet Authority’s Public Safety Advisory Committee (PSAC) and the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s (NIST) Public Safety Communications Research division had evolved enough that the PSTA board felt the organization could shut down.

The PSTA launched in 2018 at the PSCR’s Public-Safety Stakeholder Meeting to help promote public-safety standards.
