“The board felt that we fulfilled our mission in the immediate years after FirstNet’s launch,” Johnson said. “We had great dialogue and committee work around technical topics and open standards that were oriented toward a NPSBN/Firstnet’s emergence.”
Johnson said that the work of the First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet Authority), the FirstNet Authority’s Public Safety Advisory Committee (PSAC) and the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s (NIST) Public Safety Communications Research division had evolved enough that the PSTA board felt the organization could shut down.
