FCC Announce Changes to 3.45 – 3.55 GHz Auction Procedures
Wednesday, June 23, 2021 | Comments

The FCC’s Office of Economics and Analytics (OEA) and the Wireless Telecommunications Bureau (WTB) announced a change to the categories and the conditions applicable to the licenses that will be available for bidding in the upcoming 3.45 – 3.55 GHz band.

As a result of special temporary authority (STA) granted to Lockheed Martin, there are changes to the inventory in three partial economic areas (PEAs): PEA 41 in Syracuse, New York; PEA 44 in Rochester New York; and PEA 227 in Watertown, New York.

The bureaus also corrected an error in its previous released procedures to accurately indicate certain PEAs in which coordination requirements apply to both the upper six blocks and the lower four blocks. Finally, the bureaus made guides that provide mathematical and technical details regarding the bidding procedures for the clock and assignment phases of the auction.

The auction is scheduled for October 5 and will offer 4,060 new flexible use licenses throughout the contiguous U.S.
