The FCC announced that its Ending 9-1-1 Fee Diversion Now Strike Force will hold its second meeting August 2 at 10 a.m. ET.

Pursuant to the Don’t Break Up the T-Band Act of 2020, the task force is tasked with studying how the federal government can most expeditiously end diversion of 9-1-1 fees and charges by states and taxing jurisdictions.

In carrying out this study, the strike force shall:
• Determine the effectiveness of any federal laws, including regulations, policies and practices or budgetary or jurisdictional constraints regarding how the federal government can most expeditiously end 9-1-1 fee diversion;
• Consider whether criminal penalties would further prevent 9-1-1 fee diversion; and
• Determine the impacts of 9-1-1 fee diversion.

The strike force must no later than September 23 publish a report on the findings of its study. During the August 2 meeting, the strike force will be briefed by three strike force working groups on their work and then have a discussion.

The virtual meeting can be found at www.fcc.gov/live on August 2.
