“The Des Moines Metropolitan Wastewater Reclamation Authority relies heavily upon wireless communications and our current system is aging,” said Raymond Wilson, project manager for the authority. “We were looking for the services of an independent consulting firm to serve as our subject matter expert and assist in the analysis, design, procurement and implementation of a new, state-of-the-art radio system. Federal Engineering was brought to our attention through their work with the city of Des Moines, which was key in their selection.”
Federal Engineering will support the authority throughout the following phases of the project:
• Phase 1: radio system analysis and conceptual design. During this phase, FE will conduct user interviews, survey authority radio sites, develop a conceptual design for the authority to use the city’s Project 25 (P25) system, and prepare a needs assessment and conceptual design report.
• Phase 2: RFP development and procurement support. During this step, FE will develop technical specifications, support radio system procurement and vendor evaluation, and assist with contract negotiations.
“We are also available to provide Phase 3 implementation support including project management, independent validation and verification, inspection services, and acceptance testing should the authority desire,” said FE President and CEO Ronald F. Bosco.
