The Wireless Innovation Forum (WInnForum) membership approved its 2022 operations plan, which includes the goals of its four committees for the next 12 months.

Projects undertaken by the Advanced Technology Committee (ATC), 6 GHz Committee (6 GHz), Spectrum Sharing Committee (SSC) and the Software Defined Systems Committee (SDS) include multiple reports, recommendations and specifications for use by the advanced wireless community.

6 GHz objectives include creation of an automatic frequency coordination (AFC) functional specification and a test and certification specification. Further, the committee will identify security needs in the band developing specifications as necessary. It will continue collaborative work with the Wi-Fi Alliance on the development of requirements and procedures regarding interference reporting and mitigation.

The ATC will focus on the creation of a watch list that outlines strategic projects in support of the Forum's advocacy agenda, revise its “Top 10 Most Wanted Wireless Innovations” list and its platform strategy, expand its Regulatory Advisory Committee, extend academic outreach, support its 3.1 – 3.55 MHz project, and support the forthcoming “Technological State of the Industry on Wireless Drone Networking” report.

The SDS will focus on a recommendation to the Open Group Sensor Open System Architecture (SOSA) Consortium on software-defined radio (SDR) standards integration, as well as the production of a harmonized audio port application programming interface (API), among other projects.

SSC working group goals include continuation of Citizens Broadband Radio Service (CBRS) Release 2 standards development and fundamental updates to existing standards, in addition to new projects around emerging topics such as environmental sensing capabilities (ESC), C-band, the priority access license (PAL) secondary market and more.
