During this year’s International Wireless Communications Expo (IWCE) in Las Vegas vendors announced a variety of new products and services.

Catalyst Communications Technologies announced it implemented a new control protocol for the new L3Harris Technologies XL-200M Project 25 (P25) mobile radio. Catalyst is the first company aside from L3Harris to develop advanced control of this radio, continuing a wide ranging technology and marketing partnership between the companies.

The XL-200M is a multiband radio supporting the VHF, UHF and 700/800/900 MHz bands, and includes built-in Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS. The radio features an intuitive interface and high-visibility color display, allowing users to stay more focused on the job, and its optional LTE capabilities provides an on-the-go communications hub, providing hotspot capabilities that allow you to stay connected to an LMR or LTE network.

With advanced control of the radio from Catalyst, dispatchers using Catalyst’s Propulsion dispatch console can change channels and talkgroups; display, declare and clear emergency indications; display unit IDs and aliases; and execute other control functions. The advanced interface provides a wealth of real-time operational data that is available for display to dispatchers, as well as programming information that facilitates system administration and maintenance.

Catalyst also announced that its InterLoc location services for mission-critical radio networks now acquires and presents the GPS location of individuals with mission-critical push-to-talk (MCPTT) applications on smartphones connected to LTE networks. Maps display and differentiate between various LMR and LTE users with distinctive graphics.

Viavi Solutions introduced the CX300 ComXpert, a comprehensive communications test and alignment solution in an easy-to-use, ruggedized form factor. The CX300 is the first LTE-ready radio test set equipped to test both radio and broadband network infrastructure, helping today’s radio technicians ensure complete communications coverage.

Offering a frequency range up to 6 GHz, the CX300 is designed with advanced frequency, power and modulation analysis instruments to support all analog and digital LMR and professional mobile radio (PMR) protocols, as well as private LTE networks.

Comba Telecom announced the addition of its CriticalPoint UHF Fiber distributed antenna system (DAS) equipment to provide mission-critical in-building communications for first responders for venues larger than 400,000 square feet or multiple buildings that a single BDA can’t cover.

The CriticalPoint UHF Fiber DAS solution supports UHF frequencies from 450 – 512 MHz, and is comprised of a single master unit (MU) that can support multiple remote units (RU) via fiber expansion units (FEU) to provide coverage for a wide range of coverage area sizes. A single MU can support up to 32 RUs, which can provide coverage of 10 million square feet, or with a smaller number of RUs, can provide coverage for as small as 300,000 to 400,000 square feet. Depending on the FEU used, additional RUs can be added in groups of 1-4 or 1-8 devices. The MU can also be used as a conventional BDA to provide coverage for up to 400,000 square feet.; if additional coverage is required in the future, RUs can be added to increase the coverage area as needed.

Nextivity introduced new functionality, increased flexibility and new components for the Cel-Fi QUATRA RED integrated public-safety distributed antenna system (DAS).

The next-generation Cel-Fi emergency responder communications enhancement systems (ERCES) deliver capabilities not previously available in the industry, including real-time donor signal analysis and end-to-end system monitoring. Paired with Cel-Fi WAVE software and Cel-Fi COMPASS RED, Cel-Fi’s public-safety infrastructure enhances installation and system management through comprehensive support.

Cel-Fi QUATRA RED is the only ERCES provides LMR coverage and true carrier-grade, multiband support for FirstNet. QUATRA RED offers real-time, end-to-end system monitoring and management through the Cel-Fi WAVE PRO application or Cel-Fi WAVE Portal. The product integrates UL-2524 required alarming and system power management functions.

Advanced RF Technologies (ADRF) announced a new long range annunciator, ANN-L, for its public-safety repeaters. The ANN-L is ADRF’s first annunciator capable of extending the range of visual and audible alarms up to 1,000-feet from the public-safety repeater to allow for more flexibility in network design.
