PowerTrunk Upgrades TETRA Networks for 2 Canadian Mines

During the month of June, PowerTrunk provided software upgrades to the TETRA networks for the Meliadine and Meadowbank gold mines operated by Agnico Eagle Mining in Canada.

The TETRA networks are located in the Canadian Arctic region, in the province of Nunavut, and have been in operation there since 2015-2016.

PowerTrunk technicians remote connected with the Agnico Eagle TETRA radio sites and completed updates of all major software of the PowerTrunk-T TETRA systems, including for the main and redundant central control nodes, network management servers, and other network elements. As a result, the Agnico Eagle TETRA networks received the latest software versions, device drivers and features for all elements making up the PowerTrunk-T system, thereby providing additional functionality and assuring improved operations of the networks for years to come.

The Meliadine and Meadowbank TETRA networks are essential to efficient operation of the mines and also for worker safety. The systems and user radios are required to continuously operate in extreme arctic conditions, which can easily drop to -40 degrees Celsius in winter.

“We appreciate the confidence Agnico Eagle has in our company to continue providing mission-critical solutions and service for their operations,” said PowerTrunk Customer support manager Javier Murad.
