The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) announced that Ken Koffman, TIA’s senior vice president and chief technology officer (CTO) will be retiring at the end of year.

Hoffman was a founder of TIA QuEST Forum and has been contributing to the information communications technology (ICT) industry for more than 35 years. Mike Regan, former senior vice president of research and development at Aspect Software, has been hired as vice president, business Performance and will oversee TIA QuEST Forum’s initiatives.

“Ken has dedicated more than three decades to our industry, including his time as a visionary charter member of QuEST Forum in 1998 and working on some of the most important ICT-related standards of the Internet era,” said TIA CEO David Stehlin. “I want to thank Ken for his years of leadership and welcome Mike, whose experience positions him to seamlessly step in and continue driving TIA QuEST Forum into the next era of ICT.”

Koffman led the development of innovative standards in telecommunications. In 1998, as a founder of the QuEST Forum, he helped author the TL 9000 process-based standard for quality and all the associated handbooks. Nearly 25 years later, TL 9000 would be seen as the foundation for his capstone achievement, leading the industry through building and launching SCS 9001, the ICT industry’s first comprehensive supply chain security standard.

Regan comes to TIA after 11 years at Aspect Software, where he was responsible for all research and product development activities, including unified communications platforms, a suite of workforce optimization applications and omni-channel self-service customer engagement solutions. Prior to Aspect, Regan was founder and vice president of engineering at BlueNote Networks, which developed communications middleware platforms.
