FCC Urges EAS Participants to Secure Equipment
The FCC is required to maintain the list under the Secure and Trusted Communications Networks Act of 2019. The commission’s Supply Chain Second Report and Order adopted rules that govern the maintenance, including updates, of the covered list and tasked the Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau with both publishing and maintaining it on the Commission’s website in accordance with the Commission’s rules. The commission’s rules require the commission to place on the covered list any communications equipment or service if a source enumerated in the Secure Networks Act determines that the equipment or service poses an unacceptable risk to the national security of the U.S.
The three companies added to the list were AO Kaspersky Lab, China Mobile International USA and China Telecom (Americas).
