In March, the commission established its rules for the auction, which is scheduled to begin at the end of July. At that time, the FCC released a list of 8,000 new licenses for unassigned spectrum in the band, which covers 2.496 – 2.69 GHz.
However, that released inventory did not account for all canceled, terminated or expired licenses that received late-filed renewals. Upon reviewing those renewals, the commission determined that 19 licenses that were listed in the original inventory were assigned and thus removed them.
Parties interested in participating in the auction must submit a short-form application between April 27 and May 10. Find more information on the auction here.
