Merrick’s role will be to continue to grow Sepura’s presence in the evolving LTE market space, supporting customers and partners in deploying Sepura’s mission-critical broadband solutions. Merrick previously served as a solutions architect at the U.K. Home Office where he played a role in the development of the Emergency Services Network (ESN) project as a subject matter expert on mission-critical LTE. He also represented the Home Office in discussions on Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) standards, helping to build the technical architecture for the mission-critical services (MCX) solution and working with end users to ensure ESN meets their requirements.
Merrick will bring this detailed understanding of users’ requirements to Sepura as the company grows its presence in the emerging LTE market, building on the company’s experience in providing public-safety and commercial organizations with critical communications solutions over the past 20 years.
Prior to his role at the Home Office, Merrick worked for the Directorate for Emergency Communication in Norway as a technical architect on Nodnett and also held technical architect roles at Nokia and Motorola.
“Sepura has an outstanding reputation in the market for the quality of its products and its customer service,” said Merrick. “We are seeing across the world a gradual shift to users investigating and testing the opportunities presented by LTE, particularly as a hybrid solution maintaining TETRA for mission-critical voice communications. I have spent a considerable period of time with end users over my career, understanding their needs and building fit for purpose solutions to answer these.”
