On April 21, the FCC adopted a further notice of proposed rulemaking seeking comment on Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA). The further notice proposed that commercial mobile service providers that participate in WEA report on key metrics that will help stakeholders develop an understanding of WEA’s end-to-end performance and sought comment on ways to improve WEA’s consistency and the pace at which messages are received. The further notice set deadlines for filing comments and reply comments at 30 and 60 days, respectively, after publication of a summary of the Notice in the Federal Register.
