The city of Garland, Texas, deployed Exalt Communications microwave backhaul systems to deliver critical network connections for city services. The Exalt microwave backhaul systems eliminate recurring charges from leased T1 lines, while increasing available network throughput.

“By deploying these units, we get 10 times the bandwidth at the standard 27 Megabits per second (Mbps) configuration with the ability to upgrade to 100 Mbps if necessary through a simple software license,” said Jonathan Morgan, IT radio communications manager for the City of Garland. “By eliminating recurring leased-line costs, we expect a return on our investment in a year or less.”

The all-indoor 5 GHz and 11 GHz systems deployed in the city serve police and fire stations, recreation centers, and a senior center where fiber is unavailable. The Exalt systems support connectivity in a redundant communications ring.
