Hisense, one of the largest electronic technology companies in China, and TETRA radio manufacturer Sepura announced an agreement to enable the local manufacture, development, and supply of TETRA radios in China. The alliance will include cooperation in research and development, local manufacture, and sales and support of a range of TETRA radios tailored to meet the specific needs of professional radio users in China. This agreement allows Hisense to build on the significant technological achievements of Sepura, the leading TETRA terminal supplier, said Mr. Yang, vice president of Hisense. The alliance with Sepura means that Hisense now takes a significant step forward with its TETRA technology program in China and will be the first company to deliver superior, locally developed, and locally manufactured products with world-leading TETRA functionality". Hisense said it has been committed to entering the Chinese TETRA market for some years and said its goal is to capture the largest share of the TETRA market in China. The initial Hisense TETRA product offering will include a range of compact, ruggedized, lightweight handheld radios; high-powered 10-watt vehicle radios; and gateways that are capable of extending network coverage. All products can support high-accuracy GPS location facilities, and a range of accessories will also be available. The radio products will be provided in all frequency bands allocated to TETRA in China and work with TETRA networks from all major manufacturers. Hisense will produce these products from its Chinese manufacturing facility, plus other TETRA radios in the 440-473 MHz and 806-870 MHz radio frequency bands.
