DHS to Launch Harris Multiband Radio Pilot in Phoenix (2/18/11)
Friday, February 18, 2011 | Comments

The Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Science and Technology (S&T) Directorate will launch a 30-day pilot of Harris multiband radios in the Phoenix area Feb. 23. In partnership with more than 13 participating agencies and partners across the state, the pilot will test the latest portable, multiband radio technology that will allow emergency management and response personnel to communicate with partner agencies regardless of radio band.

To kick off the month-long pilot, the Harris Unity XG-100 multiband radio will support interoperability among personnel from the Arizona Department of Emergency Management and the city of Phoenix during NASCAR events beginning Feb. 24 at Phoenix International Raceway.
