Following on a contract with New York City for public safety services, IPWireless announced a complete mobile broadband solution for the 700 MHz public safety band. The UMTS TD-CDMA-based solution has the flexibility to operate in all 700 MHz band plans currently being considered by the FCC. IPWireless said the technology offers high data throughputs and system stability even when a larger number of first responders are clustered near a cell edge when responding to a major incident. On the downlink, the technology can support multi-megabit speeds to more than 95 percent of the cell area. Its high uplink throughput supports data-intensive applications such as a large number of video surveillance cameras.
