FCC Rules on Access Spectrum 220 MHz Requests (10/23)
Monday, October 23, 2006 | Comments
The FCC denied several petitions regarding the 220 MHz spectrum by Access Spectrum but renewed two nationwide licenses held by the company, which leases spectrum to other firms. Specifically, the FCC denied a request by Access Spectrum to consolidate certain phase one and phase two licenses it holds in the 220 MHz band. The FCC also denied a request by Access Spectrum for a 10-year renewal of its two phase one nationwide licenses. However, the commission did renew the phase one licenses for five years through Sept. 19, 2009. It ordered the company to file by Nov. 5, 2007, a report describing its phase one 220 MHz nationwide licenses. Access Spectrum's phase two licenses remain subject to the existing 2007 interim performance requirements for renewal in 2009 and 2012.
