APCO’s Public-Safety Communications Award Winners Announced (6/11/12)

The Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO) International announced the winners of its public-safety communications awards. The winners will be honored at the association’s annual conference in August.

“This year's competition was tighter than ever, and we salute these professionals for their dedication to the public-safety communications field,” said an APCO statement.

Donna Kelly with Kitsap County (Wash.) CENCOM, was named telecommunicator of the year. Craig Haddock with the Texas Department of Public Safety was named RF technologist of the year. Corey Nelson, emergency communications of Southern Oregon, was named information technology of the year. Team of the year went to the Citrus Heights (Calif.) Police Department.

Kisha Stephenson with the Stafford County (Va.) Sheriff's Office Emergency Communications, was named line supervisor of the year. Communications center director of the year is Carol Adams with the Stafford County (Va.) Sheriff's Office Emergency Communications. Doreen Wasick with the Mesa (Ariz.) Fire Department, was named trainer of the year.
