APCO Partners with NCC to Update on Disasters, Hurricane Isaac (8/28/12)
Tuesday, August 28, 2012 | Comments

The Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO) International announced a partnership with the National Coordinating Center (NCC), a program of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) responsible for coordinating disaster response and recovery efforts involving the telecommunications industry.

APCO International forwarded to affected parties the latest Situation Report from the NCC on Hurricane Isaac. APCO sits on daily disaster communications coordination calls and is feeding information to and from affected states through its executive council, which consists of one member from each chapter, mirroring how it gains chapter level perspectives on association activities.

“We recognize that there are varying response systems in place in each state and region, but this is an extra means that we hope over time will help to provide a national level conduit to support members affected by disasters, such as Hurricane Isaac,” said APCO President Terry Hall.
