Frequency Coordinators Request Information on Digital Practices (1/9/13)

Land mobile frequency coordinators are preparing a best practices document to aid them in the frequency coordination of newer, digital land mobile equipment into an analog environment. The group wants to address questions of whether these systems should be only coordinates on channels already occupied by digital equipment and other issues.

The coordinators are asking for assistance from mission-critical communications users and venders on experiences they might have deploying digital equipment into an analog world. In addition, they want information on analog systems that have been impacted by digital systems and how those problems were resolved.

“Any best practices developed will be reviewed by all frequency advisory committees and ultimately presented to the FCC, who may recommend changes,” said Klaus Bender, senior director, Utilities Telecom Council (UTC). Contact Bender with feedback and input at
