Elbit Systems announced that Royal Communications International (RCI) would take over the sales and service of the Mobat-USA, Micom HF-SSB products and systems. RCI has distributed the Micom HF Products since 1988.

“We are extremely pleased to become the exclusive distributor of the Micom line and look forward to continuing with the service and support that hundreds of Micom USA users have come to recognize and expect,” said Dave Carothers, a founder of RCI.

RCI is headquartered in Oceanside, Calif., and opened its Micom service facility in Herndon, Va. Thomas Haggerty, a former Mobat-USA/ Elbit Systems employee, joined RCI as chief technical officer (CTO).

The Micom product was originally designed and developed by Motorola in the 1970s. A joint venture was formed between Motorola and Bartel, and the company was named Mobat. Mobat-USA became the U.S. distribution arm. Elbit Systems then acquired Mobat-USA.
