Motorola Fingerprint System Used in (11/28)

Motorola announced that its Printrak biometric identification solution (BIS) equipped with mobile automated fingerprint identification system (AFIS) assisted the Harris County (Texas) Sheriffs Office (HCSO) in the capture of a wanted murder suspect. Officers went to a home to serve an arrest warrant for a wanted suspect. Law-enforcement officials did not find the suspect; however, they did encounter three males with no identification. Using the system, officers were able to positively match one of the individual's fingerprints against HCSO's list of wanted suspects. He was the subject of a murder felony warrant in an unrelated case. Although HCSO's officers were not in the home looking for this suspect, they were able to make an arrest. Mobile AFIS is a hand-held device that enables officers to capture fingerprint images of a detained person at the scene or on the street.
