New EOC Opens in Brooklyn (12/5)
Tuesday, December 05, 2006 | Comments
A new $50 million Office of Emergency Management (OEM) headquarters and emergency operations center (EOC) opened in downtown Brooklyn, N.Y. The facility was funded by the federal government and serves as the central point of coordination for major emergencies and special events, as well as the daily workspace for OEM planning and response personnel. The facility, along with an already existing backup EOC, replaces the agency's former facility at 7 World Trade Center, which was destroyed Sept. 11, 2001.
