A market research firm noted demand for devices that support LMR and Long Term Evolution (LTE) technology.

“One of the main trends witnessed in the global LMR system market is the demand for user devices supporting both LMR and LTE,” said a TechNavio analyst. “Given the omnipresence of land mobile radios and strong prospects of the LTE technology in mission-critical operations, the industry is expected to witness the spurred demand for integrated devices that can work with both LMR and LTE networks, and can be handed over easily between networks. Such devices will provide a competitive edge to the vendors in the market and provide additional revenue options to them.”

During the period 2012 – 2016, the growth of LTE technology is expected to grow at a healthy rate. Hence, integrating these functionalities onto a single device will make the system evolution and incumbent operations work seamlessly together.”

According to the report, one of the main factors driving the market is the demand for digital technology. The report said a challenge is cross-border security issues.

TechNavio said the following companies are key players in the global LMR System market: Cassidian, Harris, Motorola Solutions, Raytheon Communications and Thales Communications. The report also includes a discussion of the other vendors operating in the market.

The study was conducted using a combination of primary and secondary information including inputs from key participants in the industry. The report contains a comprehensive market and vendor landscape in addition to an analysis of the key vendors.
