Marin County Contracts Federal Engineering for P25 Phase 2 Consulting
Monday, March 13, 2017 | Comments

Marin County, California, awarded Federal Engineering a contract to provide project management and technical support to the Marin Emergency Radio Authority (MERA), a countywide consortium of public agencies and first responders, during the implementation phase of its new Project 25 (P25) Phase 2 trunked radio system.

Federal Engineering completed previous phases of the project, including performing a needs assessment, assessing system alternatives, developing a preliminary implementation schedule, and generating a request for proposals (RFP) for acquisition of the new system. The firm also provided MERA with expert technical and solicitation support, assisted with radio system vendor proposal evaluations and supported contract negotiations with the selected vendor.

The latest contract will take the project from the initiation, planning and design review phases through installation, testing and final cutover. FE will assess the vendor's plan before major commitments are made and will provide the county management with recommendations to mitigate risks and create a proactive project management environment.
