SAFECOM Updates Evolution Brochure with LMR/LTE Concurrent Operations
Tuesday, February 05, 2019 | Comments

SAFECOM released the “2019 Public Safety Communications Evolution Brochure,” which analyzes the public-safety communications landscape, describes the evolution of public-safety communications, and features considerations for how both LMR systems and Long Term Evolution (LTE) technology can operate concurrently during emergency response operations.

The updated brochure also includes a new public-safety communications evolution graphic and a public-safety communications evolution timeline to demonstrate the past, present and anticipated future of public-safety communications. The materials were designed to aid in the understanding of the evolving communications ecosystem and the impact on operable and interoperable emergency communications for the public-safety community.

SAFECOM’s Education and Outreach Committee, in coordination with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), released the brochure. Through collaboration with emergency responders and policymakers across all levels of government, SAFECOM works to improve multijurisdictional and intergovernmental communications interoperability.

The group elected new leadership and updated governance activities in December.
