Nassau County Gets More Time to Build 700 MHz Trunked Stations
Friday, January 03, 2020 | Comments

The FCC granted an instant request for waiver from Nassau County, New York, to extend the construction period for nine frequency pairs at three fixed base locations for call sign WQUM833 and for nine frequency pairs at three fixed base locations for call sign WQUT752.

Nassau County is the licensee of two 700 MHz trunked public-safety stations, call signs WQUM833 and WQUT752. The FCC granted the county an extended period until Aug. 19, 2019, to construct these authorizations.

The commission said there is no indication that the county is “warehousing” spectrum. Instead, it has taken concrete steps to implement its proposed system by developing an implementation schedule, awarding a contract, certifying funding and expending substantial funds on the project. The FCC extended the completion date for all sites to June 30.

The full order is here.
