The updated fees apply to applications, modifications, amendments and renewals of wireless, broadcast and satellite licenses, applications to participate in auctions, tariff filings, formal complaints and certain petitions.
Ray Baum’s Act of 2018 required the FCC to adopt cost-based fees. The FCC said that requirement allows it to bring the commission’s application fee structure into the 21st century by lowering fees to account for processing efficiencies where appropriate, adding new fees for applications that were implemented after the original fee schedule was adopted, and eliminating fees for applications that no longer exist. The new schedule also consolidates some fees.
