Harris and the state of Maine Office of Information Technology announced the full deployment of the Project 25 (P25) VHF statewide digital radio system, Maine State Communications Network (MSCommNet).

The FCC agreed with the National Regional Planning Council (NRPC) that Section 90.537(a) of the commission’s rules does not apply to 700 MHz air-ground channels.

The FCC is seeking comment on a recommended set of six channels available nationwide for 700 MHz deployable trunked systems. These channel sets were recommended by the National Public Safety Telecommunications Council (NPSTC) and the National Regional Planning Council (NRPC).

The FCC denied a petition for reconsideration filed by the Conley Group, arguing that it is eligible to license VHF interoperability channels under the commission’s rules because it provides “emergency rescue services.”

The FCC proposed new, full-power, interstitial 12.5-kilohertz “offset” channels in the 809 – 817/854 – 862 MHz band.

The FCC invited comments on a petition for waiver filed by Bird Technologies seeking waiver of Section 90.219(e)(5) of the commission’s rules. Comments are due Feb. 13, and reply comments are due Feb. 23.

Most 900 MHz incumbent licensee comments oppose the Pacific DataVision (PDV) and Enterprise Wireless Alliance (EWA) petition that asks the FCC to realign the band to allow broadband operations.

Full Spectrum received FCC approval to operate its FullMAX broadband data networks in licensed VHF frequencies between 217 MHz and 220 MHz.
